Christmas Tree Lights
Christmas tree lights add sparkle and beauty indoor and outdoor trees. Christmas trees decorated with lights radiate a glow at night that is warm and soothing. Christmas past, present, and future can all be seen through a lighted Christmas tree.
Safety is always first when it comes to Christmas lights. Never light a tree with a string of lights that does not meet UL standards, or buy a pre lit Christmas tree that does not meet UL standards. Know the wattage of the lights used on the tree, and make sure not to exceed the limits of the power outlet.
Most Christmas trees are lit using mini lights, although the larger C6 and C7 bulbs are quite popular. Clear and multicolor strands make up most of the color choices available, however unique color combinations are always in vogue. Some people like to use all blue or red lights, or add additional lights of a certain color to the tree. Twinkling lights are popular as well, delighting children and reminding adults of childhood Christmas trees.
LED Christmas lights are energy saving and remain cool to the touch, even when left on all day and night. Consider switching to LED Christmas tree lights when lighting a live tree. A live tree quickly turns into a fire hazard when the needles start to dry up, and lights can only be kept on for a few hours at a time, if that. With LED lights, the bulb will never become hot against the dry needles and tips. Pre lit LED trees are getting a lot of press as well, both for energy saving features and life expectancy of the bulbs.
When purchasing Christmas tree lights, tree height can help to determine how many lights will be needed. Live trees up to 8.5' use 100 lights per foot of tree, but an artificial tree needs less. Any tree 10' and taller will require more lights per foot of tree due to fullness. LED bulbs are significantly brighter than incandescent lights, so less bulbs are needed when choosing LED Christmas tree lights.
